The way I got into Bollywood was through a friend of mine. It happened while she was exploring her heritage and going on a mission trip to India. During her stay there she discovered a love of India and Indian films.
That love was then passed on to me. Since then I have seen a bunch of Bollywood films. (However, I have sadly never been to India) I know that I have barely skimmed the surface when it comes to just how many films they have released, but I hope to see more and more. The one my friend brought back for me was “Kismet Konnection” and it remains to be one of my favorites, but I have seen others as well. Will I love this one too? You’ll have to read to see:
Actually I am going to start out with saying this was not my favorite Bollywood movies. The fact that one actress (Priyanka Chopra) plays 12 different girls got to be a bit confusing. The story is that in order to get the family inheritance a man (Harman Baweja) must marry by the 20th of the current month. So his uncle gets a match maker to set him up with one girl from each zodiac sign. To him each of these girls looks exactly the same, so he just judges them on their personalities. This is where I had a problem because some of the girls started to blend into one another. A few had things that really stood out but probably only about half of them.In the end the girl that he picked wasn’t even one of the ones I remembered!
This really bothers me because it could have been a great movie. I just can’t say I enjoyed it as much as I would have if I could distinguish the other girls from one another. The story was interesting and I liked the majority of the musical numbers. Most girls got their own song that introduced you to the things that they wanted and/or their back story. So in the end I would also give this movie a 3 out of 5 stars.
